Thank you to the officers and committee for making my day so enjoyable. The atmosphere seemed relaxed, exhibitors were sporting and my show stewards efficient!
Overall I found the standard high, especially in some of the bitch classes. Grooming standards were good and the majority presented to their advantage. With regards to health my general observations was poor eyes, nearly one dog per class was either squinting, blinking excessively, wet, had scaring, suffered dry eye or had lashes rubbing. This really isn’t acceptable and should be a big focus for breeders to improve. I also found noses small and pinched, it seemed strange but the bigger the nose rope, the bigger and more open the nostrils?! With respect to breed type, lack of quality jaws seemed to be missing, most were true but lacked any significant width in both sexes. On a positive note bodies have improved massively - lovely ribs, briskets, chest and toplines in dogs and bitches.

I had a great day and some classes that really got the grey matter going! The show had a superb atmosphere which no one can take for granted! I have to say a huge thank you to my able stewards Malcolm Trevis and Sue Worrell, but also to the whole committee for their friendly hospitality and great food! I have to say that the prize cards were outstanding, so much so that I asked for a set if going spare. Wonderful work by Phillip Stemp that could never be matched!
With respect to the dogs I was pleased with my entry and attendance, this meant I was able to select dogs to type providing two consistent line ups. The bitches outweighed the males on overall quality, but I am extremely pleased with all my major winners. I hope you don’t feel I been too harsh with my comments, but I wanted to justify my placings of my assessments. Consistent observations were that I found jaws weak in width and bite. Also toplines that were more camel backed then roached which fell away at the rear and some certainly did their own thing on the move!
Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge, the near 800 mile journey was worth it. From an entry of 38 and just 4 absent I was really pleased with the consistency I was able to demonstrate in my dog and bitch line ups. I must admit I was ‘brutal’ when it come anything impacting on health and dogs with poorly constructed eyes were heavily penalised. The only thing I found consistent across most classes was the lack width, fit and turn of underjaw, that said overall I was extremely happy with my principle winners.

Thank you to my attentive ring stewards Terry O'Donovan and his wife. Also to the show committee who seemed extremely proud of the entry which resulted in a ‘group picture’ of the Puppy class as evidence! The show had a lovely atmosphere created by committee and exhibitors. The hall was ‘alittle hot’ but all dogs coped well, maybe less so the handlers! 
Firstly I must congratulate the officers and committee of the club for hosting such a great show, with a super atmosphere and outstanding hospitality! Thank you to my ring stewards and finally to the exhibitors that accepted all my placing’s with good sportsmanship. I had an entry of 102 from 97 dogs of which 51 dogs were present on the day. Overall I found the movement to be of a very high standard with no lame dogs nor any showing respiratory distress. Noses’ could still be improved, many were tight or pinched. I was most surprised at the lack of width and straightness of jaws, something I feel is fundamental in obtaining the ‘sour’ expression our breed is meant to have. That said I was very pleased with the quality of the breed represented today.
